High Trees B&B in in Cattistock provides an excellent base, whether you are attending a local party or wedding, a course or specific activity or just want to explore West Dorset’s 400 square miles, which is almost entirely designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the 95 miles Jurassic Coastal area, England’s first natural World Heritage Site.

For beaches and seaside activities Weymouth and Portland offer family friendly beaches, deep-sea fishing and diving trips and of course are the site for the 2012 Sailing Olympics. Burton Bradstock and West Bay are only ½ hr drive away and Lyme Regis a little further.

There is much to see and do in the surrounding local area, including villages such as Abbotsbury, with its Swannery and Sub-Tropical gardens, Cerne Abbas, famed for the chalk giant and the fabulous views from Eggardon Hill and Golden Cap.

Travelling east, Lulworth Cove, Corfe Castle and Durdle Door are all within a short drive.

The Fleet Air Arm museum at Yeovilton, The Tank Museum at Bovingdon and Weymouth Sea-Life Centre are very popular local attractions. Haynes Motor museum is a little further north together with the beautiful Stourhead gardens and house near Mere.

Southern Counties Shooting (the largest clay shooting ground in the country) & Clay Pigeon Karting Raceway are two miles away.

At the heart of villages and small towns in the area, visitors will find tea rooms, good pub food and small stores selling local produce.

Lovers of the great outdoors will find no shortage of activities within easy reach of Cattistock including; walking, cycling, golf, fishing, horse riding and game shooting.
