High Trees B&B in Cattistock provides an excellent base to explore West Dorset’s 400 square miles, which is almost entirely designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the 95 mile spectacular Jurassic Coastal area, England’s first natural World Heritage Site.
For beaches and seaside activities Weymouth, Portland, Burton Bradstock
and West Bay are all only ½ hour drive away and Lyme Regis a little further.
There is much to see and do in the local area including villages like Abbotsbury, with its Swannery and Sub-Tropical gardens, Chesel Beach with its fabulous views, Nettlecombe and Cerne Abbas, famed for the chalk giant.
Travelling east, Lulworth Cove, Corfe Castle and Durdle Door are all within a short drive.
The Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton, the Tank Museum at Bovingdon and the Weymouth Sea Life Centre are very popular local attractions.
At the heart of villages and small towns in the area, visitors will find tea rooms, good pub food and small stores selling local produce. Lovers of the great outdoors will find no shortage of activities within easy reach including walking, cycling, golf, fishing, horse riding and game and clay shooting. Deep sea fishing trips and diving trips are available from Weymouth.
